New to cloth nappies and don't know where to start?
The easiest way is to 'borrow' the trial pack, which has one of every nappy that we sell and try them on your own baby, at home, in your world. This will give you the advantages of trialing different types, for a nominal cost, enabling you to make an informed choice.
If you would prefer to buy new nappies, then there are a number of factors to consider:
- Is saving money the biggest factor? Then terries, and prefolds are the cheapest, followed by a one size nappy.
- Is ease of use the biggest factor, then pocket and all in one nappies are the easiest to use.
- Are you going to be using childcare? Then pocket and all in one nappies are the easiest to use.
- Is drying the biggest factor? Then a quick drying nappy is the way
forward, so a pocket nappy or a micro fibre nappy, followed by a bamboo
nappy.
- Are you going to have more than one child in nappies at the same time? Then a one size nappy, which fits both or more children, will simplify the
change bag.
- Do you have a boy? If getting trousers to fit your son is an issue with
cloth nappies, then hemp nappies are much thinner than cotton for the
same absorbency.
- The most environmentally friendly nappies? A number of the nappies come in organic cotton, such as the Tots Bots and Motherease. Bamboo and hemp are both much more disease resistant crops than
cotton, and hence less pesticides are required during growing.
